Jason Donovan opens up on lifestyle change in candid admission 'I'm in my mid-50s'

Jason Donovan looks forward to future grandchildren

Jason Donovan has candidly spoken about his eagerness to embrace the role of a grandfather in the near future and his new lifestyle change.

The Australian icon, 56, graced the set of Lorraine Kelly's popular ITV morning show on Tuesday, where he chatted about his latest venture as the star of Richard O'Brien's iconic rock 'n' roll musical, The Rocky Horror Show, which is embarking on a global tour.

During the heart-to-heart with Lorraine, Jason was reminded of the sentimental value attached to the show, as it was during its run that he met his beloved wife, Angela Malloch.

With a touch of nostalgia, Jason recounted how their paths crossed when Angela was working as a stage manager. What began as a friendship soon blossomed into a lasting love affair, with their bond going from strength to strength over the years.

Lorraine initiated the trip down memory lane, commenting: "So the show, it really meant a lot to you because that's where you met your wife," reports the Mirror.

To which Jason warmly responded: "Yes that's where I met my wife," adding: "We're still very strong so that's another success story and she was a stage manager in 1998 and you know the rest is history."

While Jason and Angela tend to keep their family life away from the spotlight, it is known that they share three children together: Jemma (born 2000), Zac (born 2001), and Molly (born 2011).

Reflecting on his family, Jason expressed his anticipation for the day he becomes a grandparent, though he currently has no grandchildren.

He mused: "Three kids later. You know I don't have grandchildren yet but maybe I don't know" before turning the conversation towards Lorraine with a personal query: "How old is your daughter?"

She disclosed: "30," while Jason chimed in with: "Well my oldest is 24 so you never know, I mean anything can happen."

To which Lorraine agreed: "Yes anything can happen."

In a different segment of the show, Jason dived into details about his new health regime, elaborating on his recent dietary changes that include eliminating processed foods.

The celebrity, who rose to stardom with his role in the iconic Aussie soap 'Neighbours', shared: "I like to keep physically fit. I've changed my diet recently and I'm not eating processed foods, cut out coffee, and drinking a lot more water."

He added: "But I'm in my mid-50s - I mean how did that happen? I sit there and think 'What that is pretty crazy.'" Addressing Lorraine, he remarked: "Well we are still here doing it."

Lorraine responded, confirming: "Yes true we are and loving it."
