Hints of a dramatic comeback to The One Show have been swirling around as beloved former host Matt Baker has indicated he might step back into the studio in light of Jermaine Jenas's sudden exit. The ex-football star was let go from his BBC commitments after an investigation into complaints filed by women receiving inappropriate texts.

With the famous sofa now one presenter short, veteran Matt Baker is open to discussions about a return. After leaving the show in 2020 following a dedicated nine-year tenure beside Alex Jones, Matt, speaking to The Sun, reminisced: "All of the shows that I've worked on over the years, even like Blue Peter especially, you leave the show but you don't leave the family."

Keen on keeping ties with the programme he cherishes, Matt expressed his readiness to support the team: "I think that's an important thing to remember and look, if they needed me then I'm more than happy to have a chat with them and see how I can be helpful."

With everything up in the air, he remains a strong candidate for the vacant spot: "Who knows, who knows at the moment, I've not had any conversations with anybody, but like I say it's a show that I still absolutely love."

Remembering his deep connection to The One Show, he added: "I spent nine years of my life dedicated to it and it's a show that's very close to my heart. It's a family and you never leave the family.", reports Wales Online.

Not only known for his presenting skills, Matt Baker also demonstrated his dancing prowess on the eighth series of Strictly Come Dancing back in 2010. He wowed viewers alongside Aliona Vilani, narrowly missing the glitter ball trophy, and coming in second to Kara Tointon and Artem Chigvintsev.

Following Matt's departure, Alex Jones was accompanied by Ronan Keating, who subsequently left the show. Jermaine and Roman Kemp then stepped in as permanent hosts.

Matt made these remarks as his cherished Channel 4 series, Travels with mum and Dad, returned for a fresh season.

Airing on Monday nights on the digital channel More4, the programme showcases the star embarking on an adventure with his parents Janice and Mike.
