Slow Horses is returning this week so who is to star in the fourth outing on Apple TV+?

It’s been almost a year since the spy thriller was last seen and now it’s back with season four ready to debut on Wednesday, September 4.

Based on the fourth book in the Slough House series, Spook Street, by Mick Herron, this upcoming series will open with a “bombing that detonates personal secrets, rocking the already unstable foundations of Slough House”.

Who is in the cast of Slow Horses season four?Jackson Lamb - Gary Oldman 

Grumpy and dirty Jackson Lamb is a British intelligence officer working for MI5 as the head of Slough House.

He is in charge of the group of failed spies and while he doesn’t exactly have a “heart of gold”, he does have a strong “moral code”.

Jackson is portrayed by award-winning actor Gary Oldman who has been in a number of memorable films such as Dark Knight, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Oppenheimer and Darkest Hour.

River Cartwright - Jack Lowden 

After making a public mistake during a training exercise at Stansted Airport, River was sent to Slough House.

In the fourth series, River will not only have the troubles of Slough House to deal with but also the pressure of coping with her grandfather and former spymaster David (Jonathan Pryce) showing early signs of dementia.

Actor Jack Lowden has starred in projects such as Small Axe, Dunkirk, David Copperfield and The Gold, just to name a few.

Catherine Standish - Saskia Reeves 

Actress Saskia Reeves is back for season four, having previously starred in Luther, Shetland, Our Kind Of Traitor and Frank Herbert’s Dune.

She is behind Catherine Standish, a British intelligence administrator assigned to Slough House after narrowly avoiding being charged with treason in connection to her old boss’ activities.

Actor Hugo Weaving will be joining as Frank Harkness. (Image: APPLE TV PLUS) Louisa Guy - Rosalind Eleazar

Louisa, who was fired after a tailing operation she was in charge of went badly, is played by actress Rosalind Eleazar.

She has starred in Class Of ‘09, Breeders, Master Of None and will be in the upcoming mini-series Missing You with actor Richard Armitage.

Roddy Ho - Christopher Chung

Another familiar face returning to Slow Horses is Roddy Ho, the former “hacktivist”, turned MI5 recruit and tech specialist.

Australian actor and singer Christopher Chung, who has previously been in Gods Of Their Own Religion, is to star in the war movie Blitz alongside Saoirse Ronan, Harris Dickinson and Stephen Graham.

Frank Harkness - Hugo Weaving 

This fourth series is to welcome a number of newcomers into the fold, including Frank Harkness, a former CIA operative-turned-mercenary.

Actor Hugo Weaving is arguably best known for playing Agent Smith in The Matrix franchise, as well as starring in Lord Of The Rings, Captain America and V For Vendetta.

Moira Tregorian - Joanna Scanlan

“Queen of the Database” Moira Tregorian is banished to Slough House but when she does arrive, she’s confused as to why she has been sent there.

Actress Joanna Scanlan is known for The Larkins, The Thick Of It, No Offence, Wicked Little Letters and Puppy Love.

Fellow newcomer Ruth Bradley was Karen Voss in Humans and Emily Merchant in Primeval, and had recurring roles in shows like The Innocence Project, Plus One and Love/Hate.

Bradley is behind Emma Flyte who is MI5’s new head of security in season four.

JK Coe - Tom Brooke

JK Coe has appeared in more than one of Herron’s Slough House books and is described as a competent member of the team who is also unhinged and “probably a psychopath.”

Actor Tom Brookeh has been in numerous memorable projects like BBC’s Sherlock and Bodyguard, Fiore in AMC’s Preacher and Thick Kevin in The Boat That Rocked.

Claude Whelan - James Callis 

Claude Whelan will be introduced as the newly promoted director general of MI5 when the drama returns.

He is played by Battlestar Galactica and Bridget Jones star James Callis.
