Countryfile returned for a brand new episode on BBC One on Sunday night, with host Joe Crawley meeting local fisherman on the Dorset coast.

However, just minutes into the episode, viewers flocked to X, formerly known as Twitter, to all issue the same complaint.

Enthusiastic Countryfile fans couldn't quite understand why the episode was centered around fishing and not farming.

One person expressed: "Am I watching #Countryfile or fishing weekly?!," alongside a confused emoji.

Another X user penned: "Any chance of some farming on this episode? #countryfile."

Somebody else fumed: "Wow. I love #countryfile but jesus. A whole episode about how to fish. Not about the environment, the issues faced by fish, the countryside just fishing #zzzzzzzz."

Yet another wrote: "And if you want to bore yourself to death and stare at water for a few hours you'll want to know what the weather is going to be like ... #countryfile." (sic)

Clearly missing the farming content, a fifth asked: "wheres Adam's rare cows #countryfile."

While a sixth added: "Fishing is only very interesting to other people who fish. #Countryfile."

However, not everyone felt the same way as one viewer said: "Brilliant episode of #Countryfile tonight celebrating fishing and some of our beautiful fish species."

The complaints come after viewers felt "disappointed" by a previous episode which focused on the plight of bees and the DNA of pollen, wildflowers and Wakehurst's Nature Reserve Warden repurposing an area felled due to ash dieback.

"One viewer shared: "One of the annual most disappointing episodes" while another wrote: "What a disappointment tonight's episode is."

Countryfile continues next Sunday at 7pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
