Mohamed Salah says this current campaign will be his last in the Premier League and that he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season.

Salah has just one year left on his current Liverpool deal, with the attacker confirming he is yet to speak to the club about his future.

Speaking to Sky Sports after Liverpool's 3-0 win over rivals Manchester United, Salah commented after being asked how he spent his offseason: "I had a good summer, I had a long time to stay with myself and to think positive because as you know it's my last year in the club.

"I just want to enjoy it and I don't want to think about it. But I feel I'm free to play football and we'll see what can happen next year."

The Egyptian international was at his scintillating best during the Old Trafford contest, registering two assists and popping up in the second half with a goal of his own - his 15th Liverpool goal agaisnt United.

He took his early season tally to an impressive three goals and three assists in the Premier League, but despite looking just as devastating as he has before, Salah isn't sure whether Liverpool will look to offer him a contract extension.

He later added: "To be fair, I was coming to the game and I said, 'it could be my last time'. The club have not talked to me yet so I will play my last season and see at the end of the season."

And when quizzed by Sky Sports anchor David Jones on him 'missing' Old Trafford, Salah replied: "I don't know with which club but it could be my last game here with Liverpool."

It will come as devastating news to Liverpool fans, who have fallen in love with the Egyptian maestro ever since he joined in 2017.

Daniel Sturridge, another favourite of the Reds faithful, shared those sentiments, with the former Liverpool striker pleading with Salah to make sure Sunday wasn't his last time playing for the Merseyside outfit at Old Trafford.

An indifferent Salah added: "It's not up to me, but nobody spoke to me from the club but we will see."

The Liverpool hierarchy no doubt find themselves in a sticky spot. Salah, who will be 33 years old at the start of next season, is the club's highest earner and would likely demand another bumper contract.

But if the winger departs at the end of the season, he'll do so without raising any funds for the club.

It comes just a year after the six-time European champions reportedly rejected a whopping nine-figure fee for Salah, following intense interest from Saudi Arabia.
