Vernon Kay yesterday left his Radio 2 co-star taken aback after making a surprise revelation about his marriage to Tess Daly.
Yesterday (Friday, August 30) Scott Mills ended his morning radio show on BBC Radio 2 by playing Britney Spears' 'Stronger', prompting the DJ to reminisce about his stint on 2000s music show Top of the Pops@play.
It also led Vernon, 50, to recall the time when he met his wife, Strictly Come Dancing's Tess Daly, 55, after they "recreated" another classic hit by the pop icon. However, Scott was surprised when he learned about his personal connection to the couple.
Vernon told Scott: "It was Strictly Come Dancing's Tess Daly and I, recreated the video for Britney Spears' 'Hit Me Baby One More Time'. That's how we first met.

Vernon replied: "Well, no, I think we talked about it. I think you teed it up. I think you set it up as, 'Why don't you and our new presenter, Tess Daly, go and do this?'"
Scott said: "So, am I responsible for you being married to Strictly Come Dancing's Tess Daly?" Vernon confirmed: "In a roundabout way", to which Scott replied: "I can't get my head round that."
In 2021, OK! reported that Vernon and Tess met in 2001 while they were working as up-and-coming TV presenters, with Vernon hosting Channel 4's T4 and Tess presenting SMTV on ITV.
The pair worked at rival channels, but a romance quickly developed and they went from strength to strength, with the couple marrying in September 2003.

However, the celebrity couple, who have two girls, Phoebe and Amber, are also familiar with the less glamorous aspects of married life, with Vernon recently admitting to a "nightmare" habit.
In July, he explained to his Radio 2 listeners that he's "one of those people that hover" when tradespeople visit his house to complete some work.
He said the reason for this is because he enjoys "watching them work", but a plasterer told Vernon that he is "the worst type of customer", leading to Tess telling him off.
Despite this, the couple enjoyed a break together in August, with Tess sharing a holiday snap with her husband. Captioning the Instagram post, Tess wrote: "Sun & Sea".
