Man, 77, arrested for murder after woman found dead overnight

A pensioner has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was found dead in the early hours of the morning.

Police were called to a home in Fairfield Road, Cheltenham at around 3.30am today over reports a woman had been seriously injured.

The victim, who was aged 66, was pronounced dead at the scene.

She has not yet been identified publicly.

A 77-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and he’s currently in police custody.

Gloucestershire Police have a cordon in place at the home while officers investigate the scene.

They say they’re in the early stages of their investigation and ask for anyone with information to come forward.
