GMB star opens about spat with partner in Penny and Rod Stewart marriage debate

Richard Arnold on John Thomson returning to Corrie

Richard Arnold shared a rare glimpse into his personal life on Good Morning Britain, revealing that he had a tiff with his long-term partner Stuart before joining presenters Kate Garraway and Adil Ray on set this Friday, August 30.

The 54-year-old was there to deliver the latest showbiz news but ended up divulging a bit more as he related to a story about Rod Stewart and Penny Lancaster's alleged spat, which Stewart has since refuted online.

Richard humorously disclosed: "My other half and I have fallen out over a shower attachment," which sent his colleagues into fits of laughter. Despite being in a relationship for many years, Richard has kept his partner's identity away from social media, only occasionally mentioning him during his time on the popular breakfast show.

In a touching moment back in March, 2024, while discussing the 10th anniversary of the first same-sex marriage in England and Wales with Susanna Reid, who is due back on air in September after her summer break, Richard reflected on his own relationship: "We've been together for 19 years now my partner and I, it feels like five minutes, underwater," and wittily remarked on his marital status: "Still no ring on my finger, but I'm waiting."

Richard has revealed in the past that his "man-cave" summer house has been a haven for the couple, noting last year how vital their garden became during lockdown.

Speaking about the importance of their outdoor space, he recounted in 2022: "Our garden has become a real sanctuary for us. For many people during lockdown who were lucky enough to have an outdoor space - or frankly even a window box - it took your mind away from everything that was going on. For the last 10 years, our garden has been very much that," reports the Mirror.

He shared: "Particularly when my dad passed away and when my other half lost his mother, we would spend a lot of time in the garden." He conceded, however, that Stuart is the one with the green thumb between them.

Richard took some time off from Good Morning Britain earlier this summer, making a return to the show in July 2024. Upon his return, co-host Richard Madeley couldn't resist commenting on his refreshed look, joking: "Nice to see you back matey. You brought the weather with you and a suit to match."

Admitting his delight at being back, he said: "And a cheeky little glow-up as well!"

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV1.
