Are Oasis about to record a new album? Fans have some theories

Are Oasis about to record a new album? Fans have some theories after a post on X/Twitter from Liam Gallagher resurfaced online this week.

The tweet dates back to April when a fan asked Liam when the next Oasis album was due but has reemerged online this week in response to news that the Britpop band had reformed and the announcement of their huge UK and Ireland headline tour.

Dubbed Oasis Live ’25, the tour is due to take place in July and August, the trek will see Liam and Noel Gallagher perform on stage together for the first time in 16 years.

In the tweet, Liam suggests that the band will get to work on a new Oasis album in November, as you can see here:

While some other fans were sceptical if this were the case, Gallagher did cheekily give away news about the reunion before it was pubic knowledge – like tweeting about the newly reformed band’s photo shoot and teasing their upcoming tour:

“The shoot was top secret”

As these turned out to be true, fans are now wondering if a new Oasis album could indeed be on the way. Further speculation has emerged after Noel was spotted heading into a recording studio after the Oasis reunion announcement earlier this week.

Check out some of the speculation here:

Those who saw him also noted that a crew was carrying boxes and guitar cases in and out of the building.

What do you think? New album? Or just rehearsals?

If Oasis end up releasing a new album and a few other bands get organised date-wise, we could have an interesting Brit Awards https://t.co/T20pMldN0X

Genius move from Oasis with the pre sale ticket ballot. Means they can measure demand, which is why they've added extra dates this morning. Very clever move but then, they've had 15 years to plan this! 2 new tracks next is my prediction but likely not out until April/May.

I don't care about Oasis reuniting for gigs. I want to know when they're dropping a new album. (Repackaged old material doesn't count.)

It would be the funniest thing ever if Oasis released a brand new album and only played songs from it on their upcoming tour. https://t.co/PhIxAj918R

Details emerged earlier this week about Liam and Noel’s secret Oasis reunion photoshoot, following the news that the band will finally reunite onstage in 2025.

The news was accompanied by a new black-and-white photograph of the Gallaghers standing side-by-side, which was shot by Simon Emmett.

It came with a brief joint statement from the pair about their reconciliation: “The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised.”

Writing on Instagram photographer, Emmett said: “Honoured to be asked to capture this moment. Massive thanks to all involved #oasis.” The Telegraph has since shared some alternate images of Liam and Noel from the shoot (see above). Meanwhile, a source told The Sun: “The shoot was top secret and barely anyone knew about it.

“For their fans to see them together again will be an amazing sight. The atmosphere in the room was fizzing, it was electric.”

Staff were reportedly made to sign non-disclosure agreements when working at the photography studio at the time Liam and Noel were there.

Speaking to The Mirror, a source denied claims that Oasis’ 2024 press shot had been photoshopped from two images: “I know it looks like it could be photoshopped but they were both there and they have met up.”

They went on to say that Liam and Noel were “laughing and joking” on set, adding: “It was great to see after all the years apart.”

Simon Emmett previously shot Liam for El Pais Icon magazine in 2019, and worked with Noel for the cover of Esquire in 2015.

Ticketmaster have outlined its strict rules for purchasing tickets ahead of the sales – confirming that customers will only be able to order four tickets per household and card.

The band also revealed yesterday (August 29) that they’d partnered with ticket resale platform Twickets for their upcoming reunion tour.

The band’s official website has stated that “Ticket resale is permitted at no more than the price you paid (face value + booking fees).

“Please only use the official resale partners www.twickets.live and Ticketmaster. Selling tickets through unauthorised resale platforms will breach these T&Cs and those tickets may be cancelled,” a statement continues.

Both Gallagher brothers have previously partnered with the fan-to-fan resale site, as well as the likes of Foo Fighters, Queen, and Stormzy.

Meanwhile, Oasis fans are currently speculating who could join the formerly estranged Gallagher brothers on stage next summer. Previous reports claimed “no other original Oasis member is expected to join the reunion”, and that “the members of Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds will step in”.

However, it is now expected that co-founding member Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs will be hitting the road too.

Oasis Live ’25 is reportedly set to make a staggering £400million, and will follow the expanded ‘Definitely Maybe’ 30th anniversary reissue, out this Friday (August 30).
