Gethin Jones walks off leaving Charlie and Naga alone on BBC Breakfast

Breakfast: Gethin Jones walks off set

Gethin Jones and his co-star Michelle Ackerley walked off during the BBC Breakfast crossover on Thursday leaving Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt alone in the BBC studio.

It came as the presenters decided to stand on the roof of the building for the video link rather than the warm studio - and Naga and Charlie couldn't help but poke fun as they sat in the warm studio.

After chatting about what was coming up on the show, Gethin said: "I think we will pop inside for a nice warm brew."

"Enjoy that, we have got one here on the sofa, it is all very lovely," Naga joked as Gethin put his thumbs up and replied: "Great!"

She added: "I could keep you standing out there while we enjoy our tea." However, before Naga could finish her sentence, Gethin walked off-camera and said: "See you in a bit, come on."

Michelle then followed her co-star leaving Naga and Charlie looking at a blank screen.

Naga laughed as she said: "Bye," to which Charlie chipped in: "They were in a hurry."

"That was funny though," Naga added. "They will get me back for that later."

"They need a blanket," her co-star suggested.

Before the mishap unfolded, Charlie and Naga commented on how cold it looked outside.

Charlie began: "We haven't done this in a while, it is a little windy out there well done you for braving it."

"We are trying, Charlie," Michelle replied as Gethin chipped in: "We heard on your show there might be a mini heatwave coming before we came out here."

"Not on this roof," Michelle joked.

Elsewhere in the show, Naga and Charlie were joined by Liberal Democrats leader Sir Ed Davey, to discuss the Government's plan to ban smoking in pub gardens, outdoor restaurants, and sports grounds.

In another segment, they invited Dr Merav Kliner from the UK Health Security Agency into the studio as health officials are urging parents in England to ensure their children are up to date with any missed vaccinations before they return to school.

They also spoke with Vera and Shetland writer Ann Cleeves, who discussed the final Brenda Blethyn series.

BBC Breakfast airs daily at 6am on BBC One.
