Panda twin babies may meet public in six months

Ocean Park said panda lovers may have to wait until February next year before they catch a glimpse of the new twin babies born earlier this month. In an interview with the Hong Kong Economic Times, Ocean Park chairman Paulo Pong made reference to the panda twins born in Macau in 2016, noting that cubs would normally be at least six months old before going on display and meeting the public. As for two adult giant pandas that are set to arrive in the SAR next month as gifts by the mainland authorities, Pong said they are expected to the meet the public in December at the earliest. He said the number of people visiting the giant pandas would be restricted in the initial stage, which would allow them to better adapt to the new environment. Pong added that Ocean Park would look for names for the twins and the new giant pandas in the next few months, and hopes the public can provide suggestions.
