EastEnders viewers have been left on edge after a dramatic episode hinted that a well-loved character might face a grim fate following a recent terrifying crowd crush scenario on the show.

The tension soared this week when Chelsea Fox, played by Zaraah Abrahams, took revenge on Penny Branning (portrayed by Kitty Castledine) for undermining her position at Peggy's bar by secretly increasing ticket sales for an event. Overwhelmed, the unsuspecting Penny watched as the venue became dangerously overpacked on Monday's cliffhanger (August 26).

As chaos ensued with regulars like Peter (Thomas Law) and Bobby (Clay Milner Russell) witnessing the escalating situation, Zack made vain attempts to evacuate the throngs of people, only to discover the exits were jammed.

In the gripping scenes, teenage Amy Mitchell (acted by Ellie Dadd), who had managed to get into Peggy's unnoticed, found herself caught in the upheaval. Despite everyone successfully escaping, Tuesday's follow-up (August 27) revealed Amy suffering a sudden cardiac arrest, leaving Walford stalwart Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) aghast as he watched his daughter being thrust into an ambulance.

The storyline has sparked an outpouring from the shows fans, fearing for Amy - offspring of the infamous Jack and iconic Roxy Mitchell (Rita Simons). One worried viewer posted online: "They better not kill off Amy you know.", reports the Daily Star.

One viewer expressed their shock, saying: "EastEnders are another level of evil if they kill off Amy Mitchell on the same week as releasing Roxy and Ronnie's death episode from 2017 on I player. Please let Amy be ok."

Another fan speculated dramatically: "Amy's death brings back Roxy Mitchell, case closed thank you and goodbye."

Meanwhile, a different user was on tenterhooks: "Is swear if they kill off Amy..." And yet another was left stunned by the plot twist: "Amy in cardiac arrest WHAT? ! ".
