The group, named the best-selling American girl-group of all time, are currently on tour in North America, but dates were briefly halted after Watkins suffered a medical emergency on Friday (August 23).

A statement from the group says the singer experienced “sudden and severe nausea, vomiting and intense abdominal cramps,” upon arriving in Syracuse, New York, for a performance at the New York State Fair.

Watkins was later hospitalised and diagnosed with “severe abdominal blockage”, leading to the cancellations of two New England shows scheduled for this week.

The statement continued: “[Watkins] remains in the hospital under medical supervision but is expected to be released tomorrow [August 25].”

T-Boz later announced she was “on the mend” in her own Instagram statement, and that the band would try to reschedule the cancelled shows.

“This was just one of those unexpected things that I had no control over!” she penned. “I look forward to making it up 2 you all… And hopefully I’ll get out of the hospital soon! As soon as tomorrow if all goes well! Thank you for understanding… Blessings always, T.”

Since the death of member Lisa ‘Left-Eye’ Lopes in 2002, the group is now comprised of Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas. Lopes passed away after a car accident that took place while she was vacationing in Honduras.

Their fourth studio album ‘3D’ was released shortly after their death, and it was their last before an almost two-decade haitus.

In 2015, TLC returned, launching a Kickstarter to help fund a new album. The campaign raised $430,255 and remains to be the most-funded campaign in the company’s history. Katy Perry was one of the first backers of the project.

Prizes for backers included video dance tutorials, signed vinyl and CD’s, a TLC scrap book, voicemails, a slumber party and an exclusive photoshoot with group.

TLC’s last album release, the self-titled ‘TLC’, came out in June 2017.
