Jermaine Jenas shared a heartfelt tribute to his wife Ellie just weeks before being sacked over allegations of sending inappropriate texts.

The Sun reported that the Match of the Day and One Show star, 41, had been fired by the BBC after multiple women raised concerns about his workplace conduct. However, back in May, Jenas was fawning over his wife Ellie Penfold, whom he married in 2011, through a sweet birthday post on Instagram.

Sharing a photo dump of holiday snaps with their children, Jenas wrote: "Happy birthday Mrs j I love you… we love you more than you could ever imagine.. you deserve the world x." In the images, Ellie could be seen in various bikinis aboard luxury boats and at restaurants during a vacation abroad.

The couple shares three children: daughters Geneva and Olivia and a son named Jacob. Jenas also has an older daughter, Sancha, from a previous relationship who resides in the United States with her mother.

On Thursday, it was revealed that a female colleague on The One Show had raised concerns after Jenas allegedly sent her unsolicited flirty texts.

In addition, other women have since come forward amid an investigation into DMs said to have been sent by the married ex-footballer.

Jenas is reportedly devastated by the turn of events and has instructed lawyers to handle the matter.

The scandal also means the loss of his £190,000-£194,999 annual salary for his work on the FA Cup, Match of the Day, and the World Cup. His earnings from The One Show are not publicly disclosed as they come through BBC Studios.

In response to the situation, a giant poster featuring Jenas alongside Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer was removed from BBC Sport’s Media City HQ in Manchester.

Additionally, he is no longer listed for Match of the Day on IMDb.

A source disclosed: "Presenters, cast, and crew have all been asked not to contact him whilst legal matters are ongoing." The source added, "It was shrouded in secrecy. It has shocked, and rocked, everyone."

Jenas' dismissal was led by the BBC's new director of sport, Alex Kay-Jelski, weeks after Jenas was named Ally of the Year at the Women’s Football Awards.

According to reports, Jenas informed his wife Ellie about the allegations, and he is said to be "deeply unhappy" about the situation. Ellie is reportedly standing by him throughout this ordeal.

The source explained: "This latest incident of alleged misconduct in the workplace is the last thing the BBC needed. The first complaint was raised after Jermaine flirtily messaged a female member of staff on The One Show. She raised her misgivings in a formal capacity. The BBC knows it cannot now ignore concerns or complaints. So after immediate routine enquiries the decision was taken to take him off air, and terminate his contract. They acted swiftly and decisively. In this case, Jermaine was the fall guy and was fired."
