BBC Breakfast in chaos as presenter forced to fix blunder live on air

Breakfast: Luxmy Gopal gets her hair done live on air

BBC Breakfast show presenters were caught offguard on Friday morning as presenter Luxmy Gopal was still getting her hair done live on air.

As the cameras panned to the studios at 5.56am to look at what was coming up on the show at 6am, the presenters were far from ready. Charlie Stayt, who was still adjusting his clothes, said: "Good morning and welcome to BBC Breakfast with Luxmy Gopal and Charlie Stayt."

Luxmy, who was still having her hair teased by her hairdresser, calmly said: "The headlines today...." before a clip of the headlines starting with the US Presidential elections was beamed to viewers.

Viewers rushed to socials to comment with one saying: "Start your day with the professionals at #BBCBreakfast." Another said: "Chaos @BBCBreakfast as they cut early to the studio and @luxmy_g presents the headlines while having her hair done! Great professionalism."

But by the time the show started for real a few minutes later, the pair were fully ready as they opened the show as professional as ever without any glitches.

Charlie usually co-hosts BBC Breakfast with Naga Munchetty but was joined by Luxmy who has been on the sofa a couple of times this week.

Luxmy, a seasoned presenter with over 10 years of experience under her belt at the BBC, is best known for being a staple on BBC Look North.

Although recently, the TV star announced that she was leaving her regular team as her contract with BBC London News had been made permanent.

Viewers are used to seeing Luxmy bringing viewers news bulletins during BBC Breakfast as she reports live from various locations across the UK.

However, she’s often called in to front the programme on weekends and occasionally mid-week to fill in for regular hosts.

BBC Breakfast is on BBC One weekdays at 6am
