Luxmy Gopal hosts BBC Breakfast

Luxmy Gopal, a seasoned presenter with over 10 years of experience under her belt at the BBC, is best known for being a staple on BBC Look North.

Although recently, the TV star announced that she was leaving her regular team as her contract with BBC London News had been made permanent.

Viewers are used to seeing Luxmy bringing viewers news bulletins during BBC Breakfast as she reports live from various locations across the UK.

However, she’s often called in to front the programme on weekends and occasionally mid-week to fill in for regular hosts.

As Luxmy has become a fan-favourite with viewers over the years, we've delved into the presenter's life.

After graduating from Durham University, with an MA in History and a BA in English and History, Luxmy started her career at BBC Surrey in 2011.

Since then, she’s been part of BBC Inside Out, BBC South East Today, BBC Channel Islands and BBC News.

Little is known about Luxmy’s private life, although on her social media, the presenter often showcases her Maine Coon cat Cosmo.

Other images show her enjoying time abroad with her friends and a recent holiday break to Italy.

According to The Sun, the host resides in Leeds and can speak multiple languages including English, German and French.

Two years ago, Luxmy was one of the celebrities who took part in the Burrow Strictly Ball alongside 10 other famous faces.

The event was organised by Rob Burrow's sisters Clare Burnett and Joanne Hartshorne who were raising money for the Rob Burrow Centre for MND, Motor Neurone Disease Association, and the Rob Burrow Discretionary Fund.

With 580 supporters, the event raised an incredible total of £32,711.

During rehersals for the event, Luxmy shared snippets of her routine on social media alongside her dance partner Matt.

One included her being lifted into the air and twirled around with her arm out as she captioned the video: "Eek! The @burrowstrictlyball is today, for the sake of my dance partner who's doing all the heavy lifting, please donate what you can to help people with MND."

However, on the night itself, the BBC star confessed she forgot some of the dance moves as she posted a video of her and Matt on a light-up dance floor.
