CE vows measures to tackle subdivided flat issues

Chief Executive John Lee on Thursday said he will unveil measures to address substandard living conditions in subdivided flats at the appropriate time. Writing on his Facebook page, Lee said he has received a report from a task force looking into subdivided flats, after officials wrapped up their research and gathered views from different stakeholders over the past 10 months. The report from the task force includes suggestions for minimum living standards and ways to replace this type of housing. In an official statement, Deputy Financial Secretary Michael Wong, who led the task force, said the government is expected to provide 308,000 public housing units in the upcoming decade and these homes could offer a solution to long-existing subdivided housing issues. Wong added that his task force will submit a follow-up report within one month, as instructed by the CE.
