BAL FW24 Mixes Military Grit with Cozy Comfort

Japanese casualwear brand BAL has revealed its Fall/Winter 2024 collection. For this season, founder and designer Kentaro Kabaya draws inspiration from the cross-cultural influences of the 1990s to create a lineup of high-quality, modern casual garments for urban life.

The collection's color palette sets a sophisticated tone with subdued whites, greys, browns, blacks, greens and olives, accented by a muted grayish purple. Tie-dye fabrics introduce subtle pink and yellow hues on dark brown-black tops, while a striking deep sea green and white tie-dye option provides bold contrast. This interplay of colors creates a balanced aesthetic that bridges urban style with natural elements.

Outerwear takes center stage, featuring standout pieces like the Taion removable sleeve down jacket and a reimagined Marmot shell jacket based on the brand's 2000-era Light Speed design. The collection also includes versatile items such as moisture-wicking soccer jerseys, washed pigment-dyed ripstop nylon track pants with curved side panels and double-layered knee pads. Accessories complete the look with GORE-TEX Infinium gloves, leather belts and a checkered hand-knit bucket hat.

BAL's FW24 collection showcases a unique aesthetic that blends military-inspired grit and cozy comfort. The accompanying lookbook presents an artistic narrative, obscuring models' faces while painted pink feet make unexpected appearances. The collection is now available on BAL's official website and at select stores.
