Labor Earnings in gaming sector rising

T city’s gaming sector employed 52,518 full-time workers at the end of second quarter, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 825 employees, or 1.6%. However, the number of dealers fell slightly to 23,467, a drop of 208 dealers, or 0.9%.

According to the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC), June’s average earnings for full-time employees in the sector rose to MOP26,750, an increase of 8.2% compared to the previous year.

Dealers saw an average salary of MOP21,660, up 6.5%, attributed to higher wages and extended working hours.

The recovery of tourism has led to increased demand for labor in the sector, with job vacancies surging by 385, marking a staggering 340.7% rise year-on-year, totaling 498. The job vacancy rate also rose to 0.9%, up 0.7 percentage points from the previous year.

During the second quarter, 1,492 new hires were reported, while 1,143 employees left their positions.

The recruitment rate climbed to 2.9%, up 1 percentage point, while the turnover rate slightly decreased to 2.2%. LV
