Arsenal have reportedly agreed personal terms with a new goalkeeper to replace Aaron Ramsdale if he joins Wolves this summer. The 26-year-old has been widely tipped to leave in search of regular minutes after slipping behind David Raya in the pecking order.

Ramsdale has been linked with several clubs over the last few months, with the likes of Newcastle and Southampton mentioned earlier in the window. He was reportedly the subject of a recent loan bid from Ajax but that proposal was said to have been rejected by Arsenal.

According to The Athletic, Wolves have submitted a loan offer for Ramsdale which includes the option to buy him next summer. They would also be ready to cover most of his salary but there is an acceptance that it will be hard to pull off given the finances involved.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are said to have already identified a new goalkeeper to replace Ramsdale if he moves to Molineux. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Gunners have agreed personal terms with Espanyol stopper Joan Garcia but are yet to submit an official bid.

Espanyol are believed to be aware of Arsenal's interest but any deal will hinge on whether Ramsdale leaves in the final weeks of the window. As such, there is no agreement at club level but that could change over the next 10 days.

Garcia started on the bench for Espanyol last season but got his chance to impress in the second half of the campaign. He kept eight clean sheets from 14 league games for the Periquitos as they secured promotion to La Liga.

His impressive displays earned him a place in the Spain squad for the Olympics, where they won gold by beating France in the final.

The 23-year-old remains tied down to Espanyol until the summer of 2028, meaning they are under no immediate pressure to sell him. He is said to have a release clause of around £25million but it remains to be seen if they will be prepared to negotiate a cheaper deal.

It seems likely that Garcia would be restricted to playing for Arsenal in domestic cup competitions, with Raya set to continue as the undisputed first choice. However, his hopes of joining the Gunners will rest on whether or not Ramsdale departs to join Wolves in the coming days.
