Naga Munchetty makes urgent plea to BBC co-star's family as she catches him out in 'lie'

BBC Breakfast: Naga and Charlie grill Ben on his part-time job

BBC Breakfast presenters Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt were quick to catch their co-star in a ‘lie’ as they issued an urgent plea to his family.

During a recent episode of the BBC hit show, the presenting duo were joined by financial guru Ben Boulos as they discussed teenagers earning extra cash by getting a Saturday job.

Naga, 49, went on to ask Ben if he had any part-time jobs when he was younger to which he claimed that he "didn’t have one.” The TV star was left shocked as she joked about Ben's lack of a teen job, saying: "I can't believe you didn't have one. How lucky.”

Later on in the show it was revealed that Ben did, in fact, have a job when he was younger and his co-stars wasted no time quizzing him on his mistake.

Charlie asked: “You did have a job?” Ben replied: “Yes I did, and also in touch this morning... My parents were in touch.” Naga jumped in: “Because you said you didn’t.” Ben explained: “Wrongly, I forgot because it has been so long since it was the case.”

Naga asked: “Did your mum tell you off?” Naga and Ben burst out laughing as he said: “Yes. My dad actually messaged and said, ‘You did have a part time job’”.

He continued: “Here is a tip, actually, for people.

"So I did some work experience at my local paper and after that work experience, whenever they had cinema reviews or book reviews, they would say to me, 'Do you want to do this for a bit of extra cash and you could fit it around school work and everything.' So, that was my part-time job.”

“What films did you review,” Charlie asked. Ben revealed: “Oh my goodness, we are talking back when I think... It was so long ago.”

Charlie said: “Well give me some sort of idea.” Ben replied: “It was like the Lion King era so it was quite a while ago.”

Keen to see some of Ben's old words, Charlie went on to say: “I’d love to read your review of Lion King.” Ben said: “No, you wouldn’t.”

Looking at the camera, Naga and Charlie issued a message to Ben's dad.

Charlie said: “If Ben’s dad is watching, I’d like a copy of the review that Ben wrote when he was four or whenever it was.” Naga added: “Yes, send it in. We’ll get him to put it on social media.”

BBC Breakfast airs from 6am on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
