Is Tyler, the Creator Collaborating With Supreme?

Update: After wheatpastings surfaced earlier this week and Supreme confirmed some caliber of collaboration with the rapper on Instagram, the imprint released a new Tyler, the Creator video on Instagram.

In the clip, Tyler dons the same green box logo T-shirt as he does in the earlier teasers for the collab and discusses his long-lasting ties to Supreme – a brand he's been shopping ever since he was 16 years old.

"The first thing I got was the peach and mint t-shirt," he recalls of his first Supreme purchase from the label's Spring/Summer 2009 range.

"The ill thing about this is: Supreme was like our Louis Vuitton. That was our top-of-the-line sh*t. Especially knowing everyone didn't have it ... Going to school and having that one piece that no one else in the school or school district had made it even more special," he continues.

"This is such a full circle moment."

Original Story: Ahead of the release of its Fall/Winter 2024 collection, Supreme began fueling fan fever on Tuesday with a new set of wheatpastings starring Tyler, the Creator. Spotted around Brick Lane in London, the images saw the Call Me If You Get Lost artist posing in a green box logo T-shirt, hiding a signature colorful scarf around his neck and accessorized with a brown top-tied hat.

Shortly after fans spotted the wheatpastings, Supreme took to its Instagram to share the photos in high resolution, revealing that they were shot by photographer Luis Perez, who previously shot the campaign for Tyler's Louis Vuitton collaboration.

It's unclear whether Tyler is partnering with the streetwear stalwart to design parts of the forthcoming collection or if he's merely the star of the brand's FW24 campaign, but many would argue that a collaboration between Supreme and the rapper is long overdue.

Tyler played an integral role in popularizing Supreme in the early 2010s, when the Odd Future titan discovered the brand as one of the only skate shops in Los Angeles' Fairfax neighborhood. He famously wore a tie-dyed version of the label's Kaws box logo hoodie to the MTVU Woodie Awards in 2011, and he later sported a leopard Supreme camp cap while accepting the award for Best New Artist at the MTV Video Music Awards that same year. His 2010 track, "Orange Juice," which contributed to that win, called out Supreme: "Box Logo hoodies and goodies, from buddies that understand that Bastard was buzzing like Woody, so we get it for free." Since then, he's sported Supreme's signatures during his buzzy Coachella performances, on the Grammys' red carpet and for more casual press appearances. All this is to say: the synergy between the two is (and has been) quite ideal for a collab.

Last August, Supreme similarly dropped off images of NBA YoungBoy wearing a classic BOGO Tee shot by Kenneth Cappello, which ended up on a Photo Tee in the Fall/Winter 2023 collection. Perhaps we'll see Tyler's photograph on a top this season, or maybe he'll have an even larger hand in the collection's creation; either way, time will be the true testament to what Supreme really has up its sleeves.
