'Deadpool & Wolverine' Dethrones 'Joker' To Become Highest-Grossing R-Rated Film in History

Congratulations are in order for Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman as their crossover movie Deadpool & Wolverine is officially the highest-grossing R-rated film in history.

According to Variety, the Marvel title has earned $1.086 billion USD at the global box office within 23 days — dethroning Joker's record-setting $1.078 billion USD numbers in 2019. “Thanks for making Marvel Studios’ first R-rated movie the biggest of all time,” Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige shared in a statement. “It’s fantastic to see that audiences are loving this movie as much as we all loved making it. All those conversations were worth it!”

This marks the second Disney title of 2024 to hit $1 billion USD following Inside Out 2 ($1.558 billion USD), and is the 31st Disney film overall and 11th in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to achieve this feat.
