GB News guest slams Meghan Markle and Prince Harry for 'risky' Colombia tour
A former BBC Royal correspondent has issued a stark warning to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, amid their tour of Colombia. The expert appeared on GB News today (August 15) to claim the trip was one the pair’s “riskiest” moves in years.
Harry, 39, and Meghan, 43, are due to spend the next four days immersing themselves in culture and art as they explore the country of Colombia. The pair’s jam-packed itinerary sees them visiting schools and encouraging children to improve their digital literacy before eventually meeting up with the country’s Invictus Games team.
According to President Francia Márquez, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will also have “the exceptional opportunity to engage with elders, youth and women who embody the aspirations and voices of Colombians.” However, Michael Cole, 80, claims the couple should be “careful” whilst embarking on the tour.
“This is the riskiest thing the Sussex’s have done since they scooted off to Canada in 2020,” Michael told GB News presenters Andrew Pierce, 63, and Beverley Turner, 50. “They should be very concerned.
“What they have to sell is their celebrity and their royal status and they should be very careful about selling that celebrity too cheaply and to whom they’re selling it.

“The cocaine cartels; Pablo Escobar and so on. And within the country there are people in opposition to the government who are saying the government of Gustavo Petro will exploit his Royal visitors for his own political ends.”
Reporting live from Henley-on-Thames, Michael continued to say that Harry and Meghan were in the country to “follow up the causes they believe in” but that they should “be very careful about the people around them”.
He also queried why Sussex’s chief of staff recently relinquished his position and claimed it could be somewhat related to their current overseas trip.

“I actually feel for the Sussexes because they really need Buckingham Palace,” he added. “Whenever there is a royal invitation it is scrutinised…Is it the right place to go? Should we go? How does it fit with our politics?
“Of course, they haven’t got that help…and I’m sure if the advice was given they wouldn’t take it.”
