Meghan and Harry slammed by GB News star as he rages Colombia trip 'has no purpose'

GB News star Stephen Dixon has a reputation for not holding back - and this morning was no exception.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are already in the Latin American country of Colombia - but the broadcaster feels the pair are trying to "get into the limelight without any real purpose" as he questioned the need for the trip.

"They're trying to take the limelight without having a real cause or purpose of why they're there. What are they doing?" he asked. He went on to suggest that their presence would be a "headache" to the Foreign Office, alluding to a lack of "planning and preparation".

"We just don't know enough about it but the very fact that they've just taken it upon themselves to hop on a plane to head there to generate more headlnes for their own self-worth and self-gain..." he exclaimed. The panel also discussed Meghan's vocal commitment to women's rights, but questioned whether activities like watching a traditional dance ceremony, unveiling a statue or "doing whatever they think is work" would really advance female causes.

Co-star Alex Armstrong went on to suggest that Meghan could make more of an impact on women's rights if she visited the Middle East. The troubled region is said to currently be on the brink of widespread war.

"If they're really concerned about women's rights, I'd like to see them in the Middle East," he declared.

Alex added in a savage swipe that it could be their next stop after "people get bored of them [in Colombia] and they have no other audience".

Stephen and Alex's views echo those of Eamonn Holmes, who suggested yesterday: "[Meghan] wants people to respect her and what she does, but I can't think of a single thing that she could talk about that would make someone influenced."

The topic came up as he discussed the news that Harry and Meghan had lost 18 members of staff since marrying in 2018 - with the latest leaving after just three months - and that Meghan had once gone through three nannies in just six weeks.

Commentator Clare Mundoon also questioned the pair's choice to visit Colombia - "one of the most dangerous countries in the world" - after Harry had previously said he feared his wife's safety so much he wouldn't be bringing her to Britain.

Despite having an excellent reputation for music, dance and art, Colombia also has a history of kidnappings and the UK government warns online that visitors should be wary due to a "high threat of terrorist attack".

The website also references "groups and individuals who view the UK and British nationals as targets".

However, in spite of the controversy, not everyone agrees with Stephen's views, with some tweeters suggesting that the pair are a "true inspiration" and that they'll be following their progress avidly throughout the latest journey.
