GMB: Trisha discusses Molly-Mae and Tommy's split

Trisha Goddard left her Good Morning Britain colleagues in an uncomfortable silence this Thursday when she launched into a tirade about the recent split of Love Island stars Tommy Fury and Molly-Mae Hague.

The 66-year-old TV personality was discussing the day's headlines with Richard Madeley and Richard Arnold on Thursday, August 15, 2024, which included the reality stars' recent break-up announcement.

However, following the couple's emotional separation statement on social media this Wednesday, pizza giant Domino's released a surprising statement on Twitter, leading Trisha to draw a comparison between the pair and Royal figures King Charles III and Lady Diana.

Yet, as Trisha made the unexpected comparison, she failed to provide any further explanation, leaving her co-stars squirming in awkward silence.

The live television mishap began with Richard Arnold detailing the break up during his rundown of the day's entertainment news, expressing amusement at the wave of online reactions triggered by Molly-Mae and Tommy's split, reports the Mirror.

A post shared on Domino's Twitter account read: "Everyone at Domino's joins the nation in mourning the break-up of Molly-Mae and Tommy Fury's relationship. Our thoughts and condolences are with them at this time."

However, Trisha saw this as a cynical attempt by the company to profit from "out of somebody's misery."

TV pundit Richard Arnold made a striking comment regarding the success of Molly-Mae and Tommy despite not clinching first place on the ITV2 series, saying: "This goes to show the impact over the last five years and they didn't even win the show."

Trisha offered her poignant take by saying: "Well, I don't know whether it's a bad impact or money-making, people making money out of somebody's misery. I'm sorry, businesses are commenting, it's about 'how many more people can we pull into our website?'" She went on to brand this approach as "clickbait."

Further sharing her thoughts on the situation, she continued: "But there's a real family and there are real people here so my reaction was more about the coverage," before her comments drifted toward the mention of "Charles and Diana.."

A palpable silence fell over the set for several seconds, this prompted Richard to solemnly state: "We're respecting their privacy (...) as we wish them all the very best."

Trisha's comment sparked a huge reaction on social media with one commenting: "Richard....your face was Live TV gold....your face didn't have to speak after the 'Charles and Diana' comment."

Another pointed out: "CHARLES AND DIANA!" *Insert tumbleweed GIF here*."

While a third added: "Trisha on #GMB comparing Tommy & Molly to Charles & Diana. That's enough TV for today."

"That was an awkward moment with Trisha #gmb," someone else stated while a fifth added: "The 10 seconds of silence after Trisha's outburst was all we needed this morning."

"Agree 100% With Trisha who gives a flying F^*K about Tommy Fury’s love life," one fan agreed with the host.
