Woman mauled to death by pack of 25 Great Danes stalking town

A woman who went out for a walk was mauled to death by a pack of 25 Great Danes dogs on the loose and known to be terrorizing the neighborhood for years.

Davina Corbin, 56, failed to return home after going for a walk near her home east of Lake Oroville in Northern California, and her body was found on a dirt road on August 8, according to the Butte County Sheriff’s Office.

Her body had ‘numerous bite marks’, a forensic pathologist reported in her autopsy.

While executing a search warrant for a home on Blackhawk Trail, detectives found about 25 Great Dane dogs.

Butte County Animal Control responded and detectives and deputies ‘spent the entire day capturing the dogs, who were running loose in the area’, stated the sheriff’s office. They managed to catch all but two of the dogs. .

DNA testing of Corbin’s clothing showed that the Great Danes attacked her. The laboratory is conducting more tests to try to figure out which of the dogs bit her.

‘Detectives located evidence giving them cause to believe Ms. Corbin, who resides in the area, was walking when she was attacked by the dog(s),’ stated the sheriff’s office.

Neighbors said she lived in Feather Falls and often walked on a trail near Craig Access, and that she did not have a car, KCRA reported.

Anyone with information on the mauling is asked to contact the sheriff’s office, or animal control for leads on the two outstanding dogs’ whereabouts.

As of Monday, there were not criminal charges in connection with the dog attack.

A neighbor, Max Hecker, told the TV station that he has encountered the back of Great Danes more than once over the past two years, including one time when they attacked him.

‘The Great Danes, they come across the road here at me,’ he said. ‘I jumped in the car and left.’
