Man in his 20s found dead in a holiday park after being assaulted on seafront

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was found dead in a holiday park.

Police rushed to the Felixstowe, Suffolk promenade around 9.20pm on Saturday evening after paramedics treated a man with a head injury who had been assaulted.

The man who was treated, thought to be in his 20s, was found dead the next morning in a rented holiday home in Sea Sands holiday park in Felixstowe.

Detectives at Suffolk Police believe he died of a traumatic head injury and have arrested a 28-year-old man on suspicion of his murder.

He is still being questioned in custody at Martlesham Police Centre.

They are now urging for anyone who witnessed something to get in touch.

Mark Hughes of Suffolk Police said: ‘Investigations into the man’s death continue. Detectives are making enquiries, looking into the circumstances of the altercation and identifying those in the area at the time that may be able to assist with the investigation.

‘We would like to hear from anyone that might have witnessed an assault on the seafront or who might have any information that could help us in our enquiries.

‘It is important to note that we believe this to be an isolated incident with no wider threat to members of the public.’

Anyone with CCTV footage or doorbell footage taken between Saturday night and Sunday morning have been asked to reach out to police with information.

A resident of a mobile home nearby where the man died told The Sun: ‘They had only been here a couple of nights. It is terrible that this young lad lost his life.’
