Cole Palmer has reportedly signed a new long-term deal at Chelsea, with the Blues having already hinted at the news via a cryptic post on social media. Palmer was Chelsea's standout player last season, leading their attacking charge with 25 goals and 15 assists in all competitions.

He was recognised for his stunning form with a place in the England squad at the Euros, where he scored in the final against Spain. Palmer was also named the Premier League's young player of the season, beating the likes of Bukayo Saka, William Saliba and Kobbie Mainoo.

The 22-year-old has been rewarded by Chelsea with a new deal keeping him at the club until the summer of 2033, according to The Athletic. The west Londoners dropped a cryptic hint on Tuesday afternoon by posting an image of Palmer on X, formerly Twitter, alongside two emojis of a home and a stadium.

It comes just a year after Chelsea signed Palmer from Manchester City in a deal worth £40million with another £2.5m in potential add-ons. He has proven to be worth every penny and will be expected to maintain his prolific form when the new Premier League season gets underway this weekend.

Palmer worked with Enzo Maresca during his time at the Etihad Stadium, when the Chelsea boss was serving as Pep Guardiola's assistant. Speaking before Leicester City's game against Chelsea in the FA Cup last season, Maresca insisted that he always knew Palmer would dazzle in the Premier League.

"I think people that know Cole, they don’t see any change in terms of the things that he’s doing now, he was always doing," said Maresca.

"The only difference is, unfortunately with City, he had many players like him so he struggled a little bit. At Chelsea now, he's found more space so he’s showing himself, so Cole now is the player that everyone is watching.

"We have players that unfortunately this year they didn’t play too much so they come to me or the club to ask to leave. At the end they work every day not to be on the bench, they work every day to play and when you don’t play, you are not happy. And with Cole, he decides to leave with Chelsea [so] he would play more minutes.

"With Cole, it was quite clear if you see him every day in the training session or you see him when he plays some minutes with City. No one at City had any doubts about Cole as a player."

Palmer will be hoping to rekindle his partnership with Maresca at Chelsea in a successful way over the course of the new Premier League campaign. The Blues will begin with a tricky opener against City at Stamford Bridge on Sunday before taking part in the Europa Conference League play-offs next week.
