On Saturday (August 10), the Justin Harris-led band made their return to the live stage for the first time in a decade at the Revolution Hall in Portland, Oregon. It marked their first time performing together since September 2014.

For the reunion show, the band performed their 2003 debut album ‘I Am The Fun Blame Monster!’ in its entirety, along with other songs from the albums that followed. The first half of the set came from ‘I Am The Fun Blame Monster!’, while other tracks performed included ‘Queen Black Acid’, ‘Ghostship’, ‘Rotten Hell’ and more.

Menomena performed for their reunion gig on August 10:

‘Cough Coughing’
‘The Late Great Libido’
‘E. Is Stable’
‘Twenty Cell Revolt’
‘Strongest Man In The World’
‘Oahu’
‘Trigga Hiccups’
‘Rose’
‘The Monkey’s Back’
‘Queen Black Acid’
‘Ghostship’
‘Killemall’
‘Weird’
‘Evil Bee’
‘Rotten Hell’

The reunion gig comes after the band surprise-released a three-track EP ‘The Insulation’ in April, after which they released expanded versions of their 2007 album ‘Friend and Foe’, 2010’s ‘Mines’ and 2012’s ‘Moms’. Those albums each received a number of previously unreleased bonus tracks recorded during their respective album production cycles.

Their last full-length album came in the form of 2012’s ‘Moms’. In a four-star review of the album for NME, Dan Stubbs wrote: “Having hit their stride with 2010’s ‘Mines’, and following the 2011 departure of Brent Knopf, the newly reduced duo return with a fifth album that could be 2012’s least likely coming-of-age. On ‘Moms’ we have echoes of Blur’s piercing directness (‘Plumage’), Super Furry Animals’ tropical psychedelia (‘Capsule’) and, in ‘Pique’, a masterclass in dark, euphoric songwriting. All the while, they address one lyrical strand: their relationships with their mothers. Cheaper than a session with a therapist, and a much better listen.”
