Outlander fans left emotional as cast celebrates anniversary from the set of final season

Sam Heughan reveals the souvenir he'll take from Outlander set

Outlander’s beloved cast has left fans emotional this week by celebrating the show’s 10th anniversary with a touching video shared on Instagram.

Series leads Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan led their co-stars in a toast as millions of fans worldwide looked back on the Starz hit’s first-ever episode back in 2014.

All in costume, the likes of Richard Rankin, Sophie Skelton, John Bell and David Berry joined in to raise a glass to the Fraser clan.

Also amongst them was executive producer Maril Davis and relative newcomers to the drama Izzy Meikle-Small and Charles Vandervaart.

The cast all cheered and raised their bubbly as Caitriona and Sam exclaimed: “Happy Birthday to us!”

“10 years, congratulations!” Caitriona continued as the cast clinked glasses.

“A very, very special thank you and congratulations to our fans who have been with us through thick and thin, time travel, love, death, births, marriages.

“So grateful that you’ve stuck with us and given us all your love and support.”

The heartwarming post received hundreds of comments from fans who were celebrating a decade of the epic historical drama right along with the cast.

“It is us fans who are the lucky and grateful ones that we've gotten to enjoy 10 years of this amazing show with this incredible cast,” one Outlander enthusiast replied.

“Thank you all for the effort, love, care, and joy you've infused into the making of Outlander.”

“HAPPY 10TH ANNIVERSARY!!! THE BEST CAST EVER!!!” another exclaimed. “Thank you Starz for bringing Outlander to us!!! Thank you Diana [Gabaldon] for the best book series!”

“The best show EVER!” another replied. “The only show I am completely [100 percent] emotionally invested in. #Outlander feels like family!”

And a fourth said: “My husband and I started watching Outlander this year! And can I please tell you how very much we love it! Congratulations on ten fabulous years! Confetti!”

Fans unfortunately have a little while longer before the Fraser saga continues as the next eight episodes in season seven won’t be getting started until late November.

Thankfully, this won’t be the end of the story as the cast is currently filming the eighth instalment, which will bring the flagship series to a close.

Plus, the world of Outlander will expand even further as the origins of Claire and Jamie’s parents during two very different points in history will be explored in next year’s spin-off, Blood of My Blood.

Outlander season 7, part 2 premieres Sunday, November 22 on Starz.
