ITV Lorraine fans 'switch off' as Christine Lampard issues update on show future

Christine Lampard thanks Andi Peters on Lorraine

Christine Lampard announced that she would be stepping down from her role on ITV's Lorraine today (August 9). The 45-year-old Irish broadcaster has been filling in for the show's namesake, Lorraine Kelly, as she enjoys a summer break.

But now, Christine is set to have a break of her own as she announced that today would be the last day of her "summer stint" on the ITV show. Signing off, Christine wrote on Instagram: "Last day of my summer stint on @lorraine.

"Thank you as always team @lorraine for being brilliant and @helenhandmakeup @bronaghwebster @mauriceflynn @cilerpeksah_hairstylist @michellewinser @pauloblake for the early morning laughs too!"

Addressing her fans, the TV star continued: "And thank YOU for all your lovely messages." Her loyal followers were devastated by the news as they continued to send her love and support.

One user commented, saying: "You really need to do this show all the time such a natural presenter." Another echoed the senitment as they wrote: "Watching you makes me feel at home. You should have your own show!"

A third added: "Christine is my favourite. Should be on all the time." Meanwhile, another user penned: "What a beautiful dress Christine and you look so beautiful wearing it. Hope to see you back on the show very soon and on a more permanent basis."

One very loyal Christine fan said that they would no longer be watching the ITV show without her on it, as they wrote: "She is truly the best presenter of Lorraine. I assume it's gonna be Ranvir next week, I won't be watching it."

Christine landed herself in hot water with a co-star earlier in the week as Andi Peters tried to say hello to her but she wasn't around.

Broadcasting from Surrey via video link, the competition host delayed the programme to highlight Christine's absence, remarking: "Christine, by the way, I came by to see you yesterday, to say hello but you weren't in your dressing room."

He went on to say: "I don't know where you were but I was going to say hello to you before seeing you on the telly, but we're on the telly now anyway."

Cutting in, a slightly embarrassed Christine replied warmly: "Awww well thank you, let's say hello now instead."
