Our Yorkshire Farm Reuben's 'inbred' quip as Clive Owen offers two-word response

Beyond The Yorkshire Farm: Reuben brands Tom 'inbred'

Our Yorkshire Farm’s Reuben Owen made a cheeky quip at his friend as dad Clive offered his response. The teen returned to our TV screens on Wednesday night (August 7) on his Channel 5 show, Beyond the Yorkshire Farm.

During the episode Reuben and Clive were getting stuck into work as he started a new digging business venture. Reuben has been commissioned to dig a series of wilderness ponds in the village of Langwathby in Cumbria and It's his biggest job to date.

To cope with the growing workload Reuben got help from girlfriend Sarah and best friend Tom. However things weren’t all smooth sailing as Reuban was having trouble with one of his biggest diggers.

Speaking to the camera, Clive went on to say: “They are not all good days and today is one of them.” Sarah admitted; “I’m not from a farming background so this is all new to me.”

She then asked: “So what is actually broken?” Pointing at a part, Reuben revealed: “This right here. The bearing’s collapsed and that means that when it’s sitting in the tractor, its twisting so the track runs off the idler and it comes off easily.”

With the help from dad Clive, Reuben managed to find a new part but the job wasn’t done there as they all had to find a way to put the track back on the digger.

All four of them got stuck in as they attempted to lift the track but it was proving to be a bigger challenge than expected.

Clive said: “It’s incredibly heavy. It would have been better with chains, I think.” Reuben disagreed as he replied: “It wouldn’t have been better with chains. We can break things with Chains but that’s about it.”

After hours of trying, the team decided to give the fixing one more go. Tom used all this strength as he attempted to put the track on the tractor, while using a metal pole.

Reuben was impressed as he shouted: “Go on lad.” He then made a quip at his best pal as he continued: “The good thing about having Tom is that he is incredibly strong. It’s all that inbredness.”

In the end they managed to fix the tractor and Clive went on to praise the trio after their hard work: “Not that’s good. We’re winning now, well done.”

He added: “It has cost a day's work because he hasn’t been able to work today and I think the part cost £350. It’s not all good days but this is an example that that’s the way of the machines, you just have to work harder when they’re going. It’s all part of this business thing.”
