This Technics SL-1200 MK2 LEGO Ideas Concept Is a Close Replica of the 1979 Model

The iconic Technics SL-1200 MK2 turntable is the focus of a brand new LEGO Ideas concept.

Created by Tamás Borján, who also worked on the Pioneer CDJ 2000 Nexus concept, the build features around 2,215 pieces and features design elements that closely replicate the real 1979 model. It also includes playable features that mimic the real thing's functionality, including a built-in monitor to drive the turntable, the "Start" and "Stop" buttons that control the motor, a platter that's scaled to a 7" vinyl LP, a working tonearm with an adjustable balance weight and anti-skating knob, an adjustable pitch slider and a removable 45 RPM adaptor.

"The legendary turntable that revolutionized the world of radio and dance club disc jockeys," the creator wrote. "Originally launched in 1972 as the SL-1200, the subsequent model, the SL-1200 MK2, was released in 1979 and quickly became the standard turntable for DJing and scratching."
