Hill and The Fugees were scheduled to kick off their world tour this Friday (August 9) in Tampa, Florida, and would continue their trek of the United States until September 21, before touring the UK and Europe in October, closing off the run of shows in Hamburg, Germany on November 1 – they had just announced additional shows for the European tour last week.

Now, however, it seems the US leg of the tour has been cancelled on short notice with no explanation. While the tour’s dates remain available on Hill’s official website, all of their US performance dates have been pulled from the Live Nation website.

News of the US tour’s cancellation was not announced via official channels, but instead began spreading through social media after fans began posting screenshots of emails from Ticketmaster announcing that shows had been cancelled and refunds were on the way.

Ticketmaster’s messaging reads: “Unfortunately, the Event Organiser has had to cancel your event”.

I have felt a lot of disappointment in my life (Philly sports fan here! ) but not much compares to Lauryn Hill & the Fugees canceling their tour days before it was scheduled to start. Seeing them perform in Philly, a city so close to their hearts & mine would have been a dream! pic.twitter.com/vv2TSox8gr

At the time of publishing, all UK and Europe tour dates remain seemingly intact, with tickets still on sale via the Live Nation website. It is currently unclear if these dates in October and November will proceed as scheduled. You can get tickets to the UK and Ireland gigs here.

This tour comes after a run of dates of shows dedicated to ‘Miseducation’ were cancelled last November, when the artist cited a “serious vocal strain for the past month”. She has since returned to performing with a handful of shows across February, March and April of this year including a slot at Coachella.

In January 2022, the Fugees cancelled their planned tour celebrating the 25th anniversary of the ‘The Score’. In a statement made to social media, they wrote: “The continued Covid pandemic has made touring conditions difficult, and we want to make sure we keep our fans and ourselves healthy and safe.”

In April 2022, Fugees member Pras Michel was convicted for his involvement in a billion-dollar money laundering scheme on 10 federal counts. Michel’s legal issues would later be found to be a major reason for the cancellation of the Fugees’ anniversary tour.
