Goldberg Shares His Outlook on the Retirement Match He Wanted From WWE

You might recall that Bill Goldberg has talked about wanting a retirement match in WWE. He previously revealed that he requested as such from former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon after agreeing to put over Roman Reigns at Elimination Chamber in February 2022. During a recent interview with Insight with Chris Van Vliet, the WWE Hall of Famer discussed why he thought he was owed the favor from WWE and his current outlook on a retirement match. Below are some highlights (via WrestlingInc.com):

Goldberg on facing Roman Reigns at Elimination Chamber 2022: “They were caught between a rock and a hard place, and I was their answer. I feel like I did them a favor, and that’s why I thought that the favor would be reciprocated, but it is what it is.”

Goldberg on no longer expecting him to receive the retirement match he wanted: “If that match was still on the table, it would’ve been done. I’m a big boy; it is what it is. If I really wanted that to happen, I could go do it myself. I could go to India and do it, I could go to Israel and do it, I could go [to] Japan and do it. I could do it here in the [United] States.”

Reigns defeated Goldberg via technical submission in their match at WWE Elimination Chamber 2022.
