HK's Nicholas Halliday ends maiden Olympic run

Hong Kong, China sailor Nicholas Halliday has been eliminated from men’s dinghy competition, with two races cancelled on Monday. The last races were scrapped due to a lack of wind in Marseille, meaning Halliday had no chance to make the top 10 to enter the medal race on Tuesday. The SAR sailor ranked 24th out of 43 participants. The 10 participants with the fewest points advance to the medal race. The winner of each race is awarded one point, and the runner-up two, and so on. After excluding his worst race, Halliday was on 136 net points, compared with 99 for Ireland’s Finn Lynch in 10th place. The 25-year-old is the first SAR Olympian to qualify for the ILCA 7 single-handed event.
