Zoe Ball issued a four-word verdict as she returned to BBC Radio 2 after a lengthy absence. The 53-year-old presenter asked: "What did I miss" as she finally made a comeback to her regular slot on the broadcaster's breakfast show.

Back in July, Zoe announced that she would be taking a break from her job, where she encourages listeners to wake up and embrace the day ahead. Posting to Instagram she shared a piece of artwork that looked very much like her, but in cartoon form.

She thanked artist David Groves Caricatures for the picture as she added her work update to the post. The BBC host wrote: "Thanks David Groves Caricatures for this!"

Zoe announed her departure and replacement as she added: "The gorgeous @gabyroslin looking after Breakfast from tomorrow. See you in a wiggle.... #outofoffice #endofterm #somanyteeth #cantunseeit".

function loadOvpScript(){let el=document.createElement('script');el.setAttribute('src','https://live.primis.tech/live/liveView.php?s=114945&playerApiId=v114945');document.getElementById('ovp-primis').appendChild(el)} window.top.addEventListener('primisPlayerInit',e=>{try{if(e.detail&&e.detail.playerApiId==="v114945"){if(window.document.getElementsByClassName('jwplayer')[0]){e.detail.float('disable')}}}catch(e){}});window.addEventListener('DOMContentLoaded',()=>{setTimeout(()=>{if(typeof flagTcfLoaded!=='undefined'&&flagTcfLoaded===!0){loadOvpScript() ExpressApp.Log('[Load] OVP flagTcfLoaded',new Date())}else{document.addEventListener("tcfLoaded",()=>{loadOvpScript() ExpressApp.Log('[Load] OVP tcfLoaded',new Date())})}},1500)})

Taking to Instagram once more, this morning (August 5), Zoe shared that she was now back on the airwaves. Posting to her Stories, she wandered through the corridors of the radio station as she captioned the post to let fans know the good news.

Recently, her massive BBC Radio 2 salary caused a stir after it was revealed in the BBC's pay list that she earns nearly £1m a year and around £4,000 per show - despite being "never there".

Fuming on Twitter/X, one user said: “How much Zoe Ball gets a year is a disgrace.”

Another ranted: “It's funny in the statement the BBC say they take spending licence fee payers money very seriously and try to give value for money .... yet they're paying Lineker £1.3 million and Zoe Ball the best part of £1 million! Taking the p**s as usual.”
