Lorraine's Christine Lampard forced to halt show after Adam Peaty blunder

Lorraine: ITV suffer technical issues in Adam Peaty interview

Christine Lampard was forced to halt Lorraine on Monday morning after the show suffered a technical blunder when chatting with Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty.

Adam, who appeared via video link, could be seen yawning as he was oblivious that Christine was trying to chat with him. Christine began: "First today though, I am joined by one of Team GB's Olympic heroes.

"Last night, Adam Peaty was part of the team who finished fourth in the 100-meter medley relay. This comes a week on from him winning silver in the 100-meter breaststroke and then testing positive for COVID, he joins us now.

"Thanks so much for joining us, Adam, this has been a complete whirlwind of a week for you. Firstly, how are you feeling because I know it has been physically tough for you this week."

Adam looked around him and yawned and was clearly unaware of any technical blunders happening in the ITV studio.

Christine, paused as she panicked: "Oh, maybe he can't hear us."

The host put her hand up and added: "Sit where you are and we will come back to you, ok, I am not letting that go I want to hear the answer."

Christine moved on with the show while the sound issue was fixed. Adam later appeared on screen and told the host: "I hope you didn't see me yawning.

The blunder comes after Adam appeared on Monday's Good Morning Britain which saw the former Strictly star speaking with Jonathan Swain in a pre-recorded interview.

Jonathan explained: "He's telling me he's still got the effects of Covid, he can barely hear in one of his ears."

Adam also hinted at retirement from swimming, telling the host: "I'm looking forward to a bit of rest, not going to lie, it's been a very tough mountain to climb.

"No decisions and those decisions don't need to be made. It's the morning after our last race and at the end of the day, we want to live in the present and worry about tomorrow when it comes. Just looking forward to getting home and chilling out for a bit."

Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV.
