Good Morning Britain's Kate Garraway makes return to ITV show after break

GMB: Kate Garraway returns to hosting duties

Kate Garraway made a triumphant return to Good Morning Britain on Monday morning (5 August), joining co-host Ed Balls. The 57-year-old presenter had sparked worry among viewers due to her prolonged absence from the popular ITV show.

On Friday (August 2), GMB was helmed by Rob Rinder and Charlotte Hawkins, following Ranvir Singh and Ed, 57, filling in for most of the week.

However, Kate, who had been absent since last month due to her father's ill health, returned to the show on Monday, much to the delight of fans.

Kate had previously announced her return to the show in a heartfelt Instagram post last week. The presenter wrote: "Hi all - sorry I disappeared from here when my Dad collapsed and rushed to hospital 2 weeks ago while having a holiday with my Mum at my brother's. It was very scary but am so pleased that he is now stable and even recovering a bit in hospital - we have so much to be grateful for, but are taking it a day at a time."

"Huge thanks to the incredible NHS staff for their endless kindness and the heart they put into the care of all their patients which has meant so much to my mum and all our family. Huge thanks too to my incredible friends @itv and @smoothradio particularly @ranvirtv @charlottehawkins1 @tinahobleyofficial @myleeneklass for yet again changing their plans to cover for me so I could put my family first," reports the Mirror. The ITV host concluded: "Luckily I also had some weeks leave booked so I have been able to support my Mum and Brother and be with my Dad while also giving Darcey and Billy some summer fun on their school holidays which of course they really need.

"Am hoping to be back on @gmb and @smoothradio on Monday so can update more then but for now sending love to you all #love #hope #friendshipday."

Kate's GMB colleagues and fans were quick to respond to the post. Charlotte Hawkins replied: "Thank goodness he's on the road to recovery, what a shock for you all. Sending loads of love" with a heart emoji.
