David de Gea may have finally found new club 13 months after Man Utd exit

Fiorentina are deliberating handing David de Gea a lifeline contract. The 33-year-old Spaniard has been without a club since he was released by Manchester United in July last year.

De Gea had recently been in talks to join fellow Serie A side Genoa but the move collapsed over an inability to agree on his wages.

And now La Viola have shown interest but the goalkeeper is waiting to hear whether Fiorentina will push ahead with the move.

Upon leaving Old Trafford, De Gea said he felt it was the right time to "take up a new challenge" but he has struggled to find the right club to match his financial demands in the last 12 months.

Newcastle and Saudi Pro League outfit Al Shabab were previously linked with the Spain international but neither of those moves came to fruition.

De Gea is thought to favour a move to Spain and is not ready to hang up his gloves just yet after making over 500 appearances for the Red Devils.

He has no desire to return to the Premier League to play for a club that isn't Man United.

As well as Italy and Saudi Arabia, the former Premier League Golden Glove winner is also thought to have attracted interest from the US.
