The Chase star snaps at audience after Bradley Walsh takes swipe at him

The Chase: Bradley Walsh praises contestants in cash builder raising £19K

The Chase host Bradley Walsh couldn't resist a playful dig at one of the participants during a celebrity edition of the popular ITV quiz show.

In the repeat episode aired on Saturday night, viewers saw Jon Sopel, Maisie Summers-Newton, Perri Shakes-Drayton and Brian Conley compete against quiz expert Jenny 'The Vixen' Ryan.

With Jon and Perri eliminated, only Maisie made it to the final chase with her hard-earned £8,000. However, when it was EastEnders star Brian Conley's turn to face Jenny, Bradley didn't seem too optimistic.

Before the actor's cashbuilder round, the ITV host jested: "We have £8,000, eight questions answered correctly by Maisie. What we've got to do now, is match that with Brian, wow."

As the presenter hinted that this might not happen, the live audience erupted into laughter, much to the chagrin of the EastEnders star. He turned to them and humorously shouted: "Shut up!!" reports the Mirror.

Referring to him as a "brother from another mother", it seemed that Bradley and Brian share a long-standing friendship. As Brian took centre stage, he received a hearty applause from the audience and sarcastically told Bradley he felt confident.

Discussing their 40-year friendship, the contestant revealed they are often mistaken for each other. Agreeing, Bradley shared with ITV viewers that he often receives praise for his time on Strictly Come Dancing, with people thinking he's Brian.

Bradley responded: "It's extraordinary! Yet I don't think we look alike at all."

Quick with a reply, Brian jested: "Well not now, I've dyed my hair grey just to get away from looking like you."

Guffawing at his companion's quip, the Chase host explained he needed to press forward with the programme. In response, the celebrity quipped: "Get on with it, I'm ready!"

Eventually, Brian provided five correct responses in the cashbuilder round and opted to stake his earnings despite a tempting offer of £132,000.

During his face-off with Jenny, there were several nerve-wracking moments where Brian came close to being caught out, but he successfully rejoined Maisie at the contestant's table.

The duo was competing for a combined sum of £13,000 which would be split among their selected charities. They set a goal of 11 correct answers for Jenny to surpass, giving her a tight two-minute window to catch the pair.

Despite their valiant efforts, the score proved insufficient for Jenny who captured them with 47 seconds still ticking. However, considering that the episode was a charity special, Bradley informed them that they would still each depart with individual totals of £1,000.
