Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are reportedly set to file for divorce after two years of marriage.

According to sources close to the singer and Gone Girl actor, the couple have finalised the documents after a final attempt to salvage their relationship.

The news comes after Affleck purchased a new $20.5million “bachelor pad” mansion Pacific Palisades on Wednesday, July 24, the day of Lopez’s 55th birthday. Days before, the pair listed their Beverly Hills mansion for $68million.

July 24 also marked the day Lopez finalised the sale of her four-bedroom New York City penthouse for $23 million, People reported.

“They finalised the divorce papers with her a month ago, but are waiting for the right time to drop them,” one source told DailyMail.com.

“At that time, they will release a joint statement that will say how they have much love for each other and how they fought to make it work, but couldn’t.”

Another source claimed: “Honestly, in the end they could not come to a compromise. What they had before is gone and they have both accepted it.”

The pair were last pictured together on March 30, and reportedly spent their second wedding anniversary on July 16 in different cities.

Rumours about a potential divorce began to circulate when it was reported that Affleck had moved into a $100,000 rental and the couple intended to sell their “dream home”.

Back in May, Lopez hit back at a journalist who asked about the divorce rumours during a press conference for her Netflix film Atlas.

“Is your divorce with Ben Affleck real? These rumours,” they asked (via AOL). “What is the truth?”

Lopez then leant into the microphone, looked at the reporter and said they should “know better than that.”

This now marks the second time Lopez and Affleck have separated, with the pair getting engaged in 2002 before splitting in 2004. After they got back together in 2022, their relationship was documented in part when Lopez shared the documentary, The Greatest Love Story Never Told.
