This Morning's Dermot O'Leary confirms break from ITV show live on air

TM: Dermot confirms break from show until September

Dermot O'Leary, the popular This Morning host, has announced he will be taking a short break from his on-air duties. The 51-year-old TV personality confirmed that he will be off-air until the first week of September when he will reunite with co-host Alison Hammond.

Just last week, Alison also revealed she would be taking a break for a sunny holiday. Dermot gently informed fans that he wouldn't be returning to his post tomorrow (Tuesday August 1st).

Upon announcing his departure, Dermot shared a warm hug with Rochelle and expressed his gratitude, saying: "Thank you very much," as she responded: "It's been lovely."

Confirming his holiday plans, the former X Factor star said: "So I'm back with Ali [Alison] in September on the first Friday so I guess that's the 6th," before asking about her plans.

Rochelle, a member of The Saturdays, disclosed: "I am taking the kids away for a bit and then I am back here in a couple of weeks," while high-fiving Dermot, she added: "With Joel Dommett".

Last week, Alison was joined on-set by The Masked Singer star Joel, who had been filling in for Dermot during his brief absence, reports the Mirror.

As Joel's two-day presenting stint came to an end, he confirmed he would be returning to This Morning soon, this time, alongside Rochelle.

Despite Joel's best efforts to win over ITV audiences, he didn't prove to be a fan favourite with everyone using the buzzing and vibrant hashtag.

Fans took to social media to express their disappointment, with one viewer stating: "Think I'll go out with these two presenting. Have a word ITV! #thismorning." (sic)

Another shared the same sentiment, adding: "Switch off - Christ not these 2 together I'm off #thismorning," while a third complained: "Joel's voice is already starting to grate...."

However, others were delighted as they took to the same platform to hail ITV for the on-screen pairing. One person gushed: "It's only been a few minutes and I'm already laughing at Alison and Joel.

"I love Alison and Joel together they make my day," exclaimed another fan online.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
