ITV Good Morning Britain's Ed Balls snaps at co-host Ranvir Singh in awkward on-air row

GMB: Ed says Ranvir she should be fined for driving in flip flops

Good Morning Britain host Ed Balls had a tense on-air exchange with co-host Ranvir Singh. The pair were at the helm of Wednesday's episode of the popular ITV breakfast show.

During one segment, Ed, 57, and Ranvir, 46, debated whether it was appropriate to drive while wearing flip flops. Introducing an upcoming part of the show, Ranvir began by asking: "Still to come, would you get behind the wheel in flip flops."

Ed echoed her question: "Would you get behind the wheel in flip flops?" Ranvir expressed her approval of the idea, stating "Always."

However, this didn't sit well with Ed, who voiced his disagreement.

The programme then cut to a pre-recorded clip of a man from the public expressing his views: "A: they are not safe, B: they can be slippery and C: the only way for people to learn is by giving them a fine," reports the Mirror.

Back in the studio, Ranvir expressed her disapproval, saying: "Oh that's harsh, giving a fine to people for wearing flip flops when the temperature is sore and your feet get hot."

Ed interjected: "You can wear flip flops but not drive in them."

Ranvir continued: "Well there's a new warning that your footwear can be in breach of a highway code. So should you be fined for driving in flip flops - oh dear."

Directing his question at Ranvir, Ed asked: "So should you be fined."

Ranvir responded: "Probably yes. I've been driving since I was 17 and I've worn flip flops basically everywhere I drive, I don't know why I find them comfy."

In another segment of the show, Ed and Ranvir honoured the memory of three young girls who tragically lost their lives in a knife attack at a Taylor Swift-themed holiday club in Southport.

The victims, Alice Dasilva Aguiar, nine, Bebe King, six, and Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, were fatally wounded in the Merseyside town on Monday. Both Bebe and Elsie succumbed to their injuries on Monday night, while Alice passed away in hospital on Tuesday morning.

Presenting a picture of the three innocent victims, Ranvir stated: "Good Morning Britain, these are the images of the innocent lives that were cruelly taken far too soon."

She went on to say: "The children who tragically lost their lives in the Southport knife attack have been identified as 6 year old Bebe King, 7 year old Elsie Dot Stancombe and 9 year old Alice Dasilva Aguiar."
