ITV Cooking with the Stars hit with complaints minutes in as fans left 'feeling sick'

Carol Vorderman chats about Labour with LBC caller

ITV fans issued the same complaint just minutes into the latest episode of Cooking with the Stars. The ultimate celebrity culinary contest returned with a brand new series on Tuesday (July 30) and was once again presented by Emma Willis and Tom Allen.

The programme pairs celebrities with top chefs who mentor them through different culinary challenges, aiming to transform them into restaurant-level cooks.

The first to compete was model Abbey Clancy and former Countdown presenter Carol Vorderman. Abbey, 38, was paired with Michelin star chef Michael Caines, who helped her whip up the perfect steak.

Meanwhile Carol, 63, teamed up with Scottish restaurateur Tony Singh, who has been cooking for more than 36 years. Following the dinner party theme, Tony guided Carol in making salmon coulibiac.

But just moments after the battle commenced, the show was hit with a wave of complaints by fans on social media who expressed concern over the two women keeping their hair down while cooking.

One wrote: "Does it bother anyone else that the celebs on #Cookingwiththestars don’t their hair back?? I just vision a pan full of stray hair," alongside a face vomiting emoji.

Another responded: "It definitely bothers me." A third agreed: "It's their long hair falling all over putting me off." Someone else demanded: "For Pete’s sake, tie your hair back #cookingwiththestars."

Mum-of-five Abbey wowed the panel with her sirloin steak, which was teamed with grilled asparagus and roasted rosemary potatoes, all coated in a chimichurri sauce.

While Carol's salmon recipe did impress the chefs, it wasn't enough and she found herself in the first cook off of the series. The next two celebrities who put their culinary skills to the test were former Strictly Come Dancing star Pasha Kovalev and social media influencer Harry Pinero.

Pasha's vegan dish of tandoori spiced cauliflower with a lentil dip managed to win over the panel of chefs, leaving Harry, 33, in the bottom two with Carol.

They were tasked with making a black forest gateau, which the panel of chefs would taste, without knowing who made it. After receiving the least amount of votes, Harry was the first celebrity sent home from the competition.
