This Morning's Rochelle Humes issues apology as she breaks down over heartbreaking death

TM: Rochelle in floods of tears after heartbreaking call

A viewer's heart-rending story about the loss of a loved one brought Rochelle Humes to tears during a touching moment on This Morning, in the aftermath of the Southport stabbing tragedy.

In a horrendous incident that has left Britain aghast, three children were horrifically stabbed and killed, with eight more injured during a festivity for Taylor Swift fans in Southport on Monday, July 29, 2024.

Five children are currently fighting for their lives, while a 17-year-old suspect is detained under charges of murder and attempted murder.

The nation has been plunged into mourning and shock, and it was palpable when Sandra, a distraught grandmother, confided in the This Morning agony aunt Deirdre Sanders on Tuesday, July 30, 2024.

As she recounted the devastating loss of her granddaughter, Sandra's grief resonated deeply, driving presenter Rochelle to tears and prompting her to make an emotional apology on air, reports the Mirror.

Following the poignant phone-in, Rochelle rejoined her co-host Dermot O'Leary, clearly shaken and battling red eyes as she took a deep breath to collect herself.

In the wake of Southport's dark day, pop icon Taylor Swift expressed her anguish over the event, taking to social media with a heartfelt message that read: "The horror of yesterday's attack in Southport is washing over me continuously and I'm just completely in shock.

"The loss of life and innocence, and the horrendous trauma inflicted on everyone who was there, the families, and first responders."

The musician expressed: "These were just little kids at a dance class. I am at a complete loss for how to ever convey my sympathies to these families."

High-profile figures have extended their sympathies over the distressing incident, with heartfelt messages pouring in for the parties affected by the horror that unfolded. Southport's own Adele Roberts took to Twitter, the popular social media platform, sharing: "Thinking of everyone affected by the tragic events in Southport today. My heart is breaking for the families."

In an outpouring of empathy, Strictly Come Dancing favourite and former anchor of BBC Breakfast Dan Walker described the events as "truly awful", reaching out with his thoughts. He wrote on Twitter, voicing his solidarity: "Thinking of all the families of the children involved. We live in strange times".

Meanwhile, Judi Love, a familiar face from Loose Women, disclosed her sentiments saying she was "praying for the families and community of Southport."
