Loose Women: Janet Street-Porter denies Strictly rumours

Loose Women's Janet Street-Porter has addressed the swirling rumours that she will be one of the celebrities gracing the Strictly Come Dancing dance floor. The BBC's popular dance competition is set to make a comeback on our television screens this autumn, and while the official line-up remains under wraps, speculation is rife about which stars might feature.

Among those rumoured is Loose Women panel member Janet, 77. However, during Tuesday's episode of ITV's hit daytime show, Janet broke her silence and revealed whether viewers can expect to see her in the ballroom.

Sunetra Sarker kicked off the show by saying: "Hello and welcome to your Tuesday's Loose women. We are keeping it short and sweet today because of the races so it's only a 30-minute show."

As the iconic theme tune of Strictly Come Dancing began to play, she added: "But we are starting with some really exciting news. Janet is joining Strictly or is she? " The camera then focused on Janet, who maintained a poker face and confirmed:"No."

Laughter erupted as she went on to say: "I was on my way to the hospital this morning to have a pain killer injection on my hip because I've just been told that I have to have a hip replacement," reports OK!

She also mentioned a conversation with Ruth Langsford, who is currently on a break from Loose Women, stating: "What comes up on my phone a text from Ruth saying 'oh my God, I am so excited that you're doing Strictly, I'm so excited it has made my day'".

"And I just went back 'sorry, not true.' unless there's a competition called Strictly Arm Dancing."

Amid the swirling rumours of Giovanni Pernice and Graziano Di Prima's recent alleged misconduct, the Beeb has confidently scheduled a new series to hit our screens.

Since its dazzling debut in 2004, Strictly Come Dancing has quick-stepped to become a television titan, consistently topping the British TV ratings with a loyal fanbase tuning in by the millions.

Last series crowned former Coronation Street star Ellie Leach and her sprightly partner Vito Coppola as Glitterball champions. The anticipation is high as another line-up of celebs prepares to strut their stuff on the dance floor.

Slated for this year's sequin-clad showdown are names like Hannah Waddingham and Nick Knowles, alongside pop sensation Duncan James from Blue, Tracy Beaker Returns' own Kia Megg, cycling dame Laura Kenny, Outnumbered's Tyger Drew-Honey and This Morning's wordsmith Gyles Brandreth, among a glittering array of hopefuls.
