Coronation Street legend Nigel Havers has teased an epic return from the dead after his character was killed off in 2019.

The dashing 72-year-old appeared on Tuesday's Good Morning Britain to discuss his fruitful career and his latest TV project. Nigel is currently hosting Channel 5's historical programme, Sandringham: A Royal Residence where he delves into the secrets of Sandringham House and its vast 20,000-acre estate.

But as the interview with GMB's Ed Balls and Ranvir Singh came to an end, the pair couldn't help but question Nigel's Corrie stint and whether he'll make an epic comeback. Although Nigel's character Lewis was given the choo, Nigel hinted a return.

function loadOvpScript(){let el=document.createElement('script');el.setAttribute('src','https://live.primis.tech/live/liveView.php?s=114945&playerApiId=v114945');document.getElementById('ovp-primis').appendChild(el)} window.top.addEventListener('primisPlayerInit',e=>{try{if(e.detail&&e.detail.playerApiId==="v114945"){if(window.document.getElementsByClassName('jwplayer')[0]){e.detail.float('disable')}}}catch(e){}});window.addEventListener('DOMContentLoaded',()=>{setTimeout(()=>{if(typeof flagTcfLoaded!=='undefined'&&flagTcfLoaded===!0){loadOvpScript() ExpressApp.Log('[Load] OVP flagTcfLoaded',new Date())}else{document.addEventListener("tcfLoaded",()=>{loadOvpScript() ExpressApp.Log('[Load] OVP tcfLoaded',new Date())})}},1500)})

Wrapping up their chat, Ranvir shared her amazement that so many subjects were covered with Nigel and said: "Politics, Olympics, the Royals- there's nothing you can't do! We didn't even talk about Corrie- we always talk about Corrie!"

Nigel replied: "We always talk about Corrie. You never know I may come back!"

Ranvir replied: "You may come back!" But before Ranvir could dig deeper, Ed appeared to remind her that they needed to move on to the next discussion on the show.

Nigel appeared on Good Morning Britain in 2019 and suggested that he could come back to the soap in the role of Lewis’ twin brother. He told presenter Piers Morgan at the time: "Indeed, he has obviously, a twin brother living in Australia."

Piers then stated that Lewis could have faked his own death. Given Lewis' criminal antics, this wouldn't be too far-fetched.

Nigel's character Lewis Archer first appeared on the show back in 2009. The character was created and introduced as a love interest for long-time character Audrey Roberts played by Sue Nicholls.

At the time, executive producer Kim Crowther revealed the team wanted an actor who was slightly younger than Audrey and who had a very charming persona. Lewis was a gentleman escort, who is described as being suave, charming and charismatic.

But despite his charm, Lewis was a conman who managed to gain thousands of pounds from Audrey. He also caused a rift between Audrey and her daughter Gail when he started dating her too.

In 2019, Lewis sadly suffered a heart attack and was killed off.

GMB is on ITV weekdays at 6am
