Outlander season seven part two will be arriving later this year but who will be joining the cast?

The MGM+ time travel series is returning for the remaining eight episodes to come out, making their debut on Friday, November 22.

While there is no question about Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe’s return as Jamie and Claire Fraser respectively, some new and familiar faces are expected for these latest episodes.

Who is joining the cast for Outlander season 7 part 2? Jenny Murray - Kristin Atherton 

Jamie Fraser’s sister Jenny Murray starred in the earlier series of Outlander before her exit in the third outing.

Now, Jenny will be back but actress Kristin Atherton will be taking over the role with scheduling conflicts the reason why Laura Donnelly won’t be returning.

Atherton has previously starred in Waterloo Road, Doctors and The Show Must Go Online.

Brian Fraser - Andrew Whipp 

Jamie’s dad died in the first series, suffering from an apoplexy and collapsing after witnessing his son get flogged.

He will once again be portrayed by actor Andrew Whipp who was Danny Cairns in Shetland, Phillip O’Neil in Six Four and Ladbroke in Netflix’s Bodies.

While Brian was killed off, showrunner Matthew B Roberts has teased time travel will play a part in bringing back some characters.

Dougal MaKenzie was an antagonist in the first couple of series of Outlander before he was stabbed by Jamie and died in his arms.

Dougal’s death didn’t stop actor Graham McTavish from returning though in series five as he portrayed his illegitimate son Buck.

McTavish, who will be back as Dougal in season seven part two, has also been in Preacher, House Of The Dragon, The Witcher and Blood Red Sky, just to name a few.

Ian Murray - Steven Cree 

Actor Steven Cree will be reprising his role as Ian Murray, Young Ian Murray’s (John Bell) dad who died in the third season.

Cree has featured in The Diplomat, The Outlaw King, Cobra and The Discovery Of Witches.

Joan MacKimmie - Layla Burns

Joan MacKimmie is the youngest daughter of Laoghaire Fraser and Simon MacKimmie, as well as sister to Marsali Fraser.

Actress Layla Burns only has a few credits to her name, including She Will and the festive movie Saving Christmas Spirit.

Laoghaire Fraser - Nell Hudson

Joan’s mum Laoghaire Fraser will be back for Outlander season seven, part two, with Nell Hudson bringing the character back to life.

As well as Outlander, actress Hudson is remembered for portraying Nancy Skerrett in the ITV drama Victoria.

There will also be some new faces introduced for the second half, including Mercy Woodcock who is described as a “married African woman who nurses Henry Grey after he is wounded and develops feelings for him”.

Actress Gloria Obianyo will be recognised for her roles as Elektra in High Life, Lady Trelaw in The Grinning Man and Uriel in Good Omens.

Benedict Arnold - Rod Hallett 

Benedict Arnold was in the Revolutionary War and in the series seven midseason finale, was described as a “steadfast military man”.

Actor Rod Hallett has previously been in The Tudors, The Last Kingdom and Terra Nova.

Outlander is available to watch on MGM+ via Prime Video Channels.
